You are Made for More

When we read about the prophet Isaiah’s declaration in Isaiah 61:1-6 to Zion; we also connect with Jesus’s fulfilling of this Word when He was on Earth.

What I would like to point out today is that it was always God’s plan to save you and reveal your purpose.

In fact, the Lord is passionate about you!  He intended to use you to accomplish His will of restoring His Kingdom.

Not only did He desire to rescue you from an eternity in Hell so that you could reign with Him for ever, He also desires to work through you so that others can be saved too!

Look at the devastation of our world today. Wars, diseases, sadness and fear all around… Listen to world news for just 20 minutes and see if you can find even one good story. Truth is this world is waiting for us, the children of God to be transformed and do what we saw our Saviour do! You are also created to do greater works!  God has embedded the answers to the world’s problems inside of you. As a the body of Christ, we are called to actively show who He is and what He can do.

Right now, you might see yourself small but in God’s eyes, you are a Priest, a kind of Servant  that is an extension of God’s love and compassion for His creations.

Let your understanding of who you are come from the truth of who God says you are and from the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that He made on your behalf.

You may be discouraged from time to time but remember that you are His passion. He is able to complete the work He started in you. You are made for more!

Isaiah 61:1-6 (KJV)

61 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

Praise Your Way Through

I recently had an experience in my car that taught me a lesson about the importance of praise.

On my way to work one morning, I began giving God thanks for His protection while I was on the road. As I drove on, merely 2 mins after the thanksgiving session, the car began to make a loud noise. Something was dragging underneath. I was instantly worried about what was happening.

I pulled over and looked, sure enough, something that looked like part of the exhaust system was coming off. Only minutes away from work, I called for roadside assistance. While waiting, I started to think about how much I would have to pay for it to be fixed, whether I could afford to buy a new car altogether and even the length of time it would take to use public transportation from one city to another.

It was overwhelming!

But, the Holy Spirit stepped in and reminded me of the Lord’s preserving hand and reassured me that my life was spared from something far worse. In addition to that, I as convinced that the Lord would make a way and I could plan in the days ahead without the looming dread of expense and inconvenience; He would be with me in every situation.

I made up my mind and decided to praise.

There I stood at the roadside singing songs of praises and giving thanks; I was falling in love with the One who is ever present in the time of trouble. I even said in myself that I would share my joy in the Lord with the tow truck driver.

Then all of a sudden, a man walked up who was doing construction work meters away from my car. He looked at the car and announced that it “wasn’t that bad”. He got under the vehicle, pulled off the hanging piece and handed it to me, stating it was not a part that I needed.

I was in shock for a moment but I realized what the Lord had done and I thanked the man for his help.

I was able to drive to work and the mechanic was gracious enough to ensure the car was safe to operate and at not cost!

The best blessing of the day was that I learned that more than the car, I needed a repair. That place where the anxiety normally sets in- where I start to think about worse-case scenarios-needed to be ripped out! Near-misses, fear of failure, rejection, loss or any other disappointment was defeated by recognition of who God is and through Jesus Christ, I received strength to praise my way through.

Today, I would like to encourage you to consider your problem(s) a small thing for God. Consider that you are His primary concern and that in every way, He is there for you.

The next time you have those looming thought of impeding doom, focus on who God is instead of only what is taking place. Let nothing hinder your praise, as it is a sign of surrender to God in those rock hard places.

May you be blessed – stay connected!

Psalm 43:5 (KJV)

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Swallowed Up!

While at home, I sit and watch the fish activity in the 72 gallon aquarium from time to time. This aquarium houses, approximately 10 African Cichlids, 1 Scavenger, 2 Schooling fish and 1 Red Tail Shark. It is amusing to see how they interact and just how intelligent these fish are.
Most recently, two of the African Cichlids formed a union and bred a large amount of fry (baby fish). They were so tiny and I thought that it was so fascinating that the parents guard the babies with such fierce dedication!

No other fish in the tank could even come close!

It was hilarious watching two small fish aggressively attack other fish, warning them to stay out of the baby zone! It did not matter how big the other fish were; they respected the code and almost all of them huddled on one side

One day, as I watched the parent Cichlids protect their fry, I noticed one of the parent swallowed up a wandering baby fish. I was in shock for a moment but then I watched it do the most amazing thing; it went back to the group of fry and spit the little guy out!

It was more safe to be where it would be protected in the group.

I though to my self “gee, if fish don’t have the ability to reason and can be this protective then how much more my Father in heaven?”

I considered observing this event was a gift from God to remind me of His ability to keep me.

Today I want to encourage you with this lesson that was taught by the Holy Spirit.

You are safe when you are in God’s hands.

It doesn’t matter what kind of opposition you face, the size, the depth, the grip – no matter what. God is able to keep you.

Don’t become overwhelmed by your surrounding. God is able to swallow you up and hide you from the enemy.

Sometimes, like with Jonah, the swallowing period is the redirect you to get on the right track because the one you might be taking has ills that are meant to destroy you.

Trust the Lord to direct your steps, and as you obey Him, the presence of His spirit gives you liberty to bloom where you are planted.

Be blessed and stay connected

Psalm 91 King James Version (KJV)

91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Disillusioned by Defeat – New Vision for Victory

I was reading about David and Goliath and I just noticed something I have never seen before- Thank God for the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things.

When David was sent to bring refreshments from his father to his brothers at war in the Valley of Ellah, his very own family thought he was there for mischief. But God had a plan in mind.

But the water boy was the one the Lord was about to use to display His glory.

The Lord’s army could not see it because they were paralyzed by fear. The threat of defeat caused them to be hopeless to the point of inaction. When God arranged for their deliverance, it was hard to detect because all they could see was the Giant who was taunting them from a distance.

Sometimes, you and I feel so threatened by the circumstances that everything causes us to be on edge. We oftentimes feel as though every news coming our way will be more bad news and it’s like “Lord, what next???”

But I want to encourage you today that same situation is not meant for your destruction, but rather it is for the purpose of God’s glory.

Look at God’s hand who prepared David for this very moment. Look at God’s plan unfolding – His intentions were toward His children.

You must have a vision of victory!

I read a quote recently that was something like this “instead of comparing your ability to the size of your problem, compare your problem to the size of God!”

You don’t have to live in despair or defeat.

Today, I would like to challenge you to call out those “giants” in your life and present before God through prayer. Ask God to prove Himself strong on your behalf! It’s in that place of prayer that He begins to reveal all those things, working on your behalf. You will be amazed at what He uses to deliver you.

To deliver Israel’s army, God used a boy, a rock and sling…

You have a story of your own. Don’t limit God but rather through His word, embrace a vision of victory!

Stay connected and know that God has every intention for you to make it!

1 Samuel 17:48-50(KJV)

And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.

Bigger Than I Think

God is bigger than I think…

At any given moment, I have a perception of God that I would like to believe is fundamentally shaped by His word and through the Holy Spirit.

Then when put to the test, I some times see the cracks in the foundation of my belief.

I worry, I compromise on some things. I get angry quickly in the midst of misunderstanding (then act on my anger). I get jealous and there are more threats of sin that attack.

But the great news is that the grace of God always teaches me to rely on Him and trust Him to be everything I need. I thank God for those tests because they drive me deeper into His word, and into prayer. Thank God for Jesus Christ who lives in me and helps me to leave some things behind me daily.

I was reading through the story of Elijah in the Book of 1st and 2nd Kings. In one instance, all the people were worshiping/serving false Gods and were being deceived by almost 850 false prophets. Can you imagine living in that time?

Well, when I look around, I can see some of the similarities. Torn homes resulting from pursuit of selfish desires. People claiming insanity or mental illness to be causes for heinous crimes and egregious acts one toward another. A nation driven on fullfilling sexual lust to the point of perverted relationships, rape and abuse. The news reports are far from good but yet we are immersed in pursuit of pleasure.  Some of the self destructive behaviors (sins), are being justified as liberty and right to self determination. Poverty stricken people lay outside on the ground floors of some of the most lucrative corporations in the world… and the list goes on.

But in the midst of the Chaos, God is saying – come to me.

God is the great “I AM” and that means there is no limit to who He is in our lives. In fact, He is the very source of life.

God is who He says He is in His word and every story of the Bible proves who He is. Don’t allow your mind to be pressured by your emotions because sometimes, that expectation for “feeling” will lead you to go astray, just as it did for those who followed those false prophets.

God longs to be your “Great I AM”. He seeks to deliver you, uphold you and lead you into everlasting life. All other falsehoods, demonic spirits, and vain persuasions of other people will lead you to death .

Isaiah 45: 18-24

18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.

19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.

21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

24 Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

The deliverance you receive from the toughest circumstances were for you to know that He is God.

The doors that were shut to keep you from harm and the ones that were opened for you to continue moving ahead in the right direction, were all caused by the same God who created this entire universe and everything in it.

The one who took the time to form you and make you in His likeness, desires for you to put the full weight of your reliance on Him.

Just think of it, the very fact that you are breathing at this moment is all because of His goodness and mercy toward you. Yes, you!

And all He asks in return is that we would obediently trust Him.

Will you take His hand and believe that He has only the best intentions toward you?

Will you read more about who He says He is and ask Him to prove Himself in your life?

Will you believe that He cares so much for you, that He gave His best in giving His Son Jesus Christ for you?

If you should accept, I guarantee you that God will always show Himself to be bigger thank you think. Stay connected!

Break Your Limit

I went for a power walk this morning and realized that I needed to go at a faster pace to really get the impact of my work out.

When I started out some time ago, I was not in the best shape so the pace that I was walking at today was a pace that was challenging in the beginning. Now I need a greater challenge to improve my health and well being.

It reminded me that only a few years ago, when I participated in a CN Tower stair climb for charity. It was the toughest thing I did physically. In 30 minutes, I climbed 1,776 steps of one of the world’s seven wonders. I felt like I was doing to die halfway through. I didn’t think I could make it. With some encouragement (and much pleading to God for strength;) I went to the top. There I thought: I could do this again!!!

Isn’t it funny how something is only a limit until it is broken?

Today if you are at a place where you perceive something to be too difficult; I want to encourage you to break that limit.

You need to push in prayer

Push in fasting

Push in studying the Word of God

Push in pursuing your purpose

It is never easy but as you push and become conditioned to the new, you will find that what you once thought was impossible is possible.

Limitations are constructed by your mind. Fasting, prayer, bible study and praise are the foundations that will reveal how much more you can accomplish.

Limits should not define you; the character that breaks them does!

Don’t settle anymore.

Do yourself a favour and believe that you are being conditioned for greatness – not only in this life but for the life to come.

Despite the hardship, you are being conditioned to overcome and that’s a good thing.

Revelation 3:21(KJV)

To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

My prayer for you is that in every area of your life, you will hold on to God’s promise; that He will help you to see just how unstoppable you are!

Keep Your Head Up

Keep your head up!

It is the best position to see the manifestation of God’s work in your life.

Today I spent a great deal of time crying out in praise, adoration, and thanksgiving for God who answers prayers in a very specific way.

As I listened to testimonies of triumph, I thought back to the times of hardship, uncertainty and fear. You know, those times when you feel like you can’t even pray or say “help me”?

Well I look back and remember that the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ made intercession in those times.

God’s grace was enough to bring me to that place of complete dependency and helped me to see beyond the critical issues at hand.

He taught me that nothing is impossible for Him and that I could trust Him(Matt 19:26).

Too much time was spent with my head held down because the weight of the issues were great.

Thanks be to the one who is able to do more than we could ever ask or think of (Eph 3:20).

So I encourage you today; keep your head up – it is the best position to look out for what the Lord has done, is doing and is about to do in your life.

Stay blessed!

Stay connected!

Psalm 121(KJV)

1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the LORD,which made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will notslumber .

4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep .

5 The LORD is thy keeper : the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Push In To It

Early in my Christian walk, I preferred to walk the path of least resistance. That meant, if things became to hard – it was a “sign” that: a) something that I wanted was not supposed to happen or b) I was being punished for something that I did. This led to a trail of unfinished tasks and living without a sense of direction.

Now, the past is the past – but what of the present and the days ahead?

As I grew and learned more about God, I realized that in His wisdom, He uses hardship and adversity to mature me and develop my character. He was teaching me endurance. When I started to recognize that God was with me, I knew I was never alone.  It meant that my source of power and strength was and still is always greater than my challenge.

James 1:1-4 (NIV)

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations:Greetings.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Resulting from this transformation of the mind led to more tasks being completed and a more focused approach to what needs to be done.

How do you push?

In prayer, fasting, obedience and in praise!

These principles will reveal God’s presence and His ability, even through you!

If you have a dream or a vision and your plan seems like its not coming together – it’s time to push

If you are working towards a promotion at work but it’s taking long – push…

If you are standing on the Word of God and determined to live like Christ – keep pushing…

If you are believing for the salvation of others through prayer – PUSH!!!

A woman about to give birth cannot give up in that final hour, right?

Some of us are right there.

The pain is not indicative of failure or derailment…it is evidence that you are close.

Bear down and push; press into and lay hold of what Christ has predestined for you.

Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press ontoward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Stay faithful to Him; stay connected!

After the Storm

This past winter season was especially long and cold in Canada. It seemed like it would never end. In fact, for the very first time, I experienced an ice storm. Many homes lost power for days and even weeks, leaving people to find alternate means of staying warm and finding food.In all its fury, practically everything was frozen. Trees, cars; you name it. Actually, many of the trees were, broken down or split in two as a result of the subzero temperatures.

Despite the beautiful chaos of our winter weather, this morning on my walk, I saw trees in full bloom. I looked at the grass that was covered in several feet of snow was now adorned with a vibrant green color mixed about with yellow dandelions waiting for someone to pluck ’em up!

I marveled as I could not even remember the images of what I saw during the storm until pulling up the picture posted above.

Even some of the smallest trees survived the storm and now bare radiant green leaves with little white flowers.

During the storm, so many changes take place. Anxiety sets in as the uncertainty of the uncontrollable circumstances cause us to wonder whether we will make it or not.

Storms like relationship crises, financial trouble, health scares – you name it! One day, things can be smooth sailing and the next minute, tempest.

Have you every had that experience before? Are you in that moment now?

I know for me, there are a few things that I wish I could gain more control over. Nevertheless I am reminded that it is more important to be acquainted with the one who controls the storm, rather  than being lost in the storm itself.

Those little trees that, in the winter, did not seem like they would make it, now stand tall and declare the glory of God in His handiwork.

The same goes for you and I.

Storms will come and go but it is the master who keeps us. Fix your gaze on Him, in the midst of your daily life. Commit your thoughts to trusting Him to keep His promises toward you.  You might be wondering “God, where are you ?”, “Jesus I need your help now !”

Instead of taking you down, the stormy blast serves the purpose of letting you know who is really in control. Don’t fear; have faith. It’s only a little while longer before this tumultuous season in your life will come to an end, and you too will even forget the intensity of the storm. With Christ, you will make it.

Today I am declaring Lord’s protection over your life:

You will stand tall!

You will produce again!

You will live and not die!

All these and more through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour! Amen

MARK 4:35-41 (NLT)

35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”

36 So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).

37 But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.

38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”

39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!”Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.

40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

Alive and Lifted

Dear friends,

Today the Holy Spirit has been ministering this song to me and I want to share it with you. Just know that no matter where you are in life – Jesus completely saves! Be blessed ❤ ❤ ❤

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more,
But the Master of the sea, heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.

Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me!

All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I’ll cling
In His blessèd presence live, ever His praises sing,
Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul’s best songs,
Faithful, loving service too, to Him belongs.

Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me!

Souls in danger look above, Jesus completely saves,
He will lift you by His love, out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea, billows His will obey,
He your Savior wants to be, be saved today.
