When we read about the prophet Isaiah’s declaration in Isaiah 61:1-6 to Zion; we also connect with Jesus’s fulfilling of this Word when He was on Earth.
What I would like to point out today is that it was always God’s plan to save you and reveal your purpose.
In fact, the Lord is passionate about you! He intended to use you to accomplish His will of restoring His Kingdom.
Not only did He desire to rescue you from an eternity in Hell so that you could reign with Him for ever, He also desires to work through you so that others can be saved too!
Look at the devastation of our world today. Wars, diseases, sadness and fear all around… Listen to world news for just 20 minutes and see if you can find even one good story. Truth is this world is waiting for us, the children of God to be transformed and do what we saw our Saviour do! You are also created to do greater works! God has embedded the answers to the world’s problems inside of you. As a the body of Christ, we are called to actively show who He is and what He can do.
Right now, you might see yourself small but in God’s eyes, you are a Priest, a kind of Servant that is an extension of God’s love and compassion for His creations.
Let your understanding of who you are come from the truth of who God says you are and from the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that He made on your behalf.
You may be discouraged from time to time but remember that you are His passion. He is able to complete the work He started in you. You are made for more!
Isaiah 61:1-6 (KJV)
61 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
